Explore the World on two Wheels: The Learning Power of Bikepacking  is a small-scale partnership project in the field of SPORT, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Over the period of two years, the project aims to show how exploring the world by bike can help young people better understand the cultural and natural richness of different regions, while also connecting with the values that unite Europe, like inclusion, respect, and diversity.

Partner organisations

The project brings together 5 non-governmental organizations from Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, France, and Czechia that work with young people through grassroots sports and outdoor activities, united by a shared mission: to promote equality and European values through the power of sport—especially biketouring.

Activities

At the heart of the project is an innovative approach: organizing 5 bike tours—one in each partner country—using BIKEPACKING (a combination of backpacking and long-distance cycling) as a powerful tool for exploration, connection, and learning. These tours aim to showcase both the unique character and the shared values that define Europe, while promoting inclusion, sustainability, and active citizenship.

To amplify its impact, the project includes an online campaign with the message #ExploreEUon2Wheels, aimed at inspiring young people to discover Europe in a healthy and environmentally friendly way. followers will be encouraged to share their cycling adventures using the hashtag, with a social media contest rewarding the top 10 most compelling stories—through photos, videos, or written reflections—with a promotional kit including a branded backpack, biking t-shirt, and helmet. The project team coordinates activities through regular virtual meetings and two in-person gatherings to ensure smooth collaboration and shared ownership across all partner countries.
