We spent our third day in the Slovak Karst National Park, surrounded by unique limestone formations in the southeastern part of Gemer County.Â
We set off from Gemerská HĂ´rka in beautiful September sunshine. Our first stop was the Reformed church in Plesivec, famous for its medieval frescoes, then we climbed to the top of the Silická plateau, up a steep 12% incline, reaching Silická Brezová and then the famous church in Silica.Â
From there, we rolled down to Gombasek, where we visited the stalactite cave, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. After a short break, we continued towards the Csermosnya stream valley, passing through one beautiful spot after another.Â
In Drnava, we visited the former Andrássy ironworks, then the DyonĂz mine. From there, we made a quick detour to Kovácová, where we were amazed by the local watermill. After visiting the ruins of the church in LĂşcka, we finally arrived at our accommodation.Â
It was a tiring but very eventful day. We look forward to the next one! Â
