📆 Day 2 | 18 September
📍Route: Gemerské Dechtáre → Gemerská Hôrka
🚴‍♀️ Distance cycled: 57 km
🏰 Places visited: ÄŚĂĹľ, Gemer, Aunt Beretkei Edit open-air museum
We woke up to a chilly September morning, but the day began with a delicious cup of coffee – a kind invitation from the artist Csank TĂmea.Â
We continued our journey under beautiful sunrays, arriving at the small but charming spa town of ÄŚĂĹľ.Â
Our path, or rather our bikes, then led us to one of the most exceptional blacksmith workshops, run by the skilled craftsman László Ottó.
Next, we visited a picturesque village along the SajĂł River, which gave the region its name – Gemer. Our journey continued to a lovely rural museum – the open-air museum of Aunt Beretkei Edit, who lovingly preserves the treasures and history of the small village of Bretka.Â
Every place we visited was filled with tradition, warmth, and a deep respect for craftsmanship. The people we met were inspiring, hospitable, and always willing to share their stories. The more we cycle through this breathtaking region, the more we realize how special Gemer truly is. With every kilometer, we uncover beauty we might otherwise overlook.Â
We stayed overnight at Penzión Skalná ruža to get a good night’s rest (https://www.gemer.sk/skalnaruza/).
So our invitation is come on – hop on your bike and discover the hidden gems of Slovakia!
