š“āāļø Distance cycled: 75 km
š° Places visited: City of Sibiu, Carpenters Tower
Today was full of diverse experiences. We started the day in foggy weather, which followed the light rain from the evening before. Our morning began with a herd of sheep and their shepherd, who wandered straight into our campācompletely guilt-free! They reminded us that we should start our journey.
After that unexpected visit, we packed up and set off toward Sibiu. The ride went smoothly, with a few climbs here and there, but nothing too challenging. Along the way, we encountered other cyclists, who gave us the feeling that bike touring is popular in Sibiu County.
Ā
We were also impressed by the unique architecture of the houses in the regionābuilt in the traditional Transylvanian Saxon style. Local people we met were friendly and curious about our journey. Some even were generous to offer us fresh vegetable, and we decided to buy also some fruits to refuel with natural vitamins straight from the source.
Ā
Once we reached Sibiu, we explored what is said to be the most beautiful street in the city, visited the city centre, and stopped by the Carpenters' Tower. We soaked up a bit of the cityās vibe and enjoyed a warm lunch before continuing on our way.
Ā
The sun got stronger as the afternoon went on, and in just a few minutes we were already showing signs of sunburn. Eventually, we made it near SÄliČte and set up camp by a refreshing, cold river. Weāre getting closer to the mountains now, and the temperature is noticeably cooler.
Ā
Exhausted from the day, we crawled into our tents not long after setting up camp. Letās see what tomorrow has in store for us!
We camped at the exit of Tilisca, next to the river
