📍Route: BalatonfĂĽred → LĂłczy Cave → Csopak → BalatonfĂĽred Promenade Â
🚴‍♀️ Distance cycled: 21,4 km
🏰 Places visited: Lóczy Cave, Balatonfüred Aquarium
Today was such a memorable day on our bike tour around the Balatonfüred area. We started off by taking an off-road trail that led us through vineyards and rolling hills toward the famous Lóczy Cave. The trail itself was the highlight of the day—dusty paths winding between grapevines, little forested stretches, and wide views over the lake. At one point, we even picked a few grapes straight from the vines—sweet, fresh, and full of summer flavor.
The Lóczy Cave was a fascinating stop. The air inside was refreshingly cool after the ride, and the rock formations told an ancient story of the region’s geology. It wasn’t a huge cave, but it felt like stepping into another world, where layers of stone seemed to hold secrets from millions of years ago.
From there, we biked further on toward Csopak, riding past even more vineyards and picturesque landscapes before circling back toward Balatonfüred. Our last stop was the Balatonfüred Aquarium and the lakeside promenade. The aquarium gave a great look at the aquatic life of Lake Balaton and its surrounding waters—small, local species, interactive displays, and a relaxing atmosphere. The promenade outside was buzzing with life: families strolling, vendors setting up stalls, and signs everywhere of the upcoming 20th of August celebrations, Hungary’s national day. Stages and decorations were being prepared, and the air felt festive with the anticipation of fireworks and events.
Looking back, the off-road biking trail was the most exciting part—adventure, nature, and the taste of fresh grapes all rolled into one. But the combination of history, natural beauty, and the lively lakeside atmosphere made today feel like a true Balaton experience.
