Last night was restless with a big windstorm sweeping through the region. All night long I kept thinking heavy rain would fall on us, but in the end we were lucky—the rain passed us by. Later we learned that the storm had raged mostly around the Szeged area.
After breakfast we packed up and set off toward Balatonfüred. The ride today was smooth and truly enjoyable. The landscapes we passed were amazing, full of beautiful views and calm stretches by the lake. Instead of following the official Balaton Körút cycle path, we decided to take local streets right along the lakeshore. It turned out to be a perfect choice—the local roads gave us a more scenic ride.
We will be staying for three nights at Füred Kemping, since we’re expecting guests to join us for two days. From here, we plan to do some shorter local round trips together. The campsite itself is very large and clearly built for tourism—full of people, noise, and activity. After staying in smaller villages, we realized we actually prefer the calmer, less touristic campsites. Still, it feels important to experience all kinds of places, and Füred has its own energy.
Tonight we’ll settle in, rest, and prepare for the next couple of days of exploring with friends.
