📆 Day 8 | 31 May
📍Route: Cruas -> Sorgues, France
🚴‍♀️ Distance cycled: 107 km
🏰 Places visited: Musée du Nougat – Fabrique Arnaud Soubeyran
Today marked another milestone in our journey — we rode 107 kilometers, from Cruas to just outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It was a demanding day in terms of distance, but we enjoyed the Provence landscapes.
Our first proper stop was at an Intermarché, where we grabbed breakfast and picked up a few supplies. It was a simple but much-needed break that gave us a boost for the long ride ahead.
In Montélimar, Dan entered Decathlon to buy some more tubes and a new pump, just in case… After, he recovered an interview with a representative of Fabrique Arnaud Soubeyran Musée du Nougat, one of the oldest and most prestigious nougat factory in town.
The route was mostly smooth and scenic, with stretches of quiet countryside and charming little towns along the way. A few small things came up — nothing serious, just little reminders to keep an eye on our gear and stay focused.
The heat picked up in the afternoon, and after so many kilometers, we could definitely feel the fatigue setting in. Still, we pushed through — stopping when needed, sharing snacks and water, and keeping the mood light with conversation and jokes.
By the end of the day, we found a peaceful place to set up camp near Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The river was inaccessible, but the quiet surroundings, the pine tree forest gave us space to relax and recharge. After setting up, we sat down for a simple dinner and reflected on the journey so far — a mix of tired bodies and proud hearts.
