📆 Day 5 | 28 May
📍Route: Bassy -> Vaulx-en-Velin, France
🚴‍♀️ Distance cycled: 87 km
🏰 Places visited: Flee market Lyon, Grand Park Mirbel Joange, the biggest Metropolitan park in Europe
We started the day by packing up our things and setting off in the direction of Lagnieu, where we had our morning coffee.
In total, we rode 87 kilometers today. It was one of the most scenic routes so far — we passed through breathtaking landscapes and beautiful, peaceful areas that made the journey truly enjoyable. The only real challenge was the uphill sections, but today they were not too many. We supported and motivated each other, which helped us get through them.
Once again, the weather was on our side — clear skies and comfortable temperatures made the ride very pleasant. It looks like the good weather will continue, which is great news for us and keeps spirits high.
We did face one issue along the way. While we were heading toward Dan, one of Couto’s pannier bags ripped, which was a bit worrying since there was a chance some of his things might fall out and get lost. But once again, teamwork proved essential — we stopped, reorganized, and secured everything properly so we could carry on without losing anything.
Today taught us a valuable lesson: always stick together. Riding as a group means that whenever something goes wrong, there’s always someone nearby to help — and that made a big difference today.
At the end of the day, we found a fantastic place to camp, in the Grand Park Mirbel Joange, the biggest Metropolitan park in Europe, as we read on a plancard. After setting everything up, we went for a swim to refresh ourselves, then shared a nice dinner and spent some time talking and enjoying each other’s company. A perfect way to wrap up another day on the road.

An excellent camping spot next to a lake, with toilets and benches.Â
