📆 Day 2 | 25 May
📆 Day 2 | 25 May
📍Route: Circle Lac Leman - Maladaire Campground (La Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland) - Chens-sur-Léman, France
🚴‍♀️ Distance cycled: 77 km
🏰 Places visited: Lumiere Gallery in Évian, Montreux PalaceÂ
We started the day by packing up our things and getting everything ready at the campsite. After organizing our gear, we left the campground and headed towards Montreux, the place of the famous jazz festival.
We passed into France and observed that the bike route is not well marked as in Switzerland and also that for many kilometers we were sharing the road with the cars without having a bike road marked on the road.
We stopped in Évian, where Dan visited the Lumiere Gallery - an exhibition about art in the XIX th century. Also we refreshed at the famous Evian spring. It was a peaceful and culturally rich moment that gave us a nice break from cycling. We also had lunch nearby, at a spot close to the museum, where we sat down to eat together and recharge.
After lunch, the day became more challenging. It started raining, and we had a really hard time finding a place to camp. We cycled for quite a while from France to Switzerland and back to France , looking for shelter, and it felt like there were no good options around. Eventually, we managed to find a spot in the middle of a forest. Unfortunately, the conditions there were far from ideal — it was muddy, uncomfortable, and not well-suited for camping — but we had no choice, so we settled in as best we could.
Despite the difficulties, the most memorable part of the day was how we managed to stay strong and find a solution together. It was a tough situation, but teamwork and determination helped us push through. Everyone contributed and helped each other, which made a huge difference in the outcome of the day.
In total, we cycled 77 kilometers. It was a demanding day.
