đ Day 11 | 3 June
đRoute: Port-Saint-Louis-du-RhĂ´ne -> Arles, France
đ´ââď¸ Distance cycled: 41 km
đ° Places visited: NapolĂŠon Beach, Ăle du Salin
We woke up this morning on Praia da Olga (Olga Beach), in Port-Saint-Louis, with the sound of the waves and a fresh sea breeze to start the day. After packing our things, we got back on the bikes and set off for what turned out to be a more relaxed but memorable day.
We rode a total of 41 kilometers, staying in the area of Port-Saint-Louis. Our first stop was Praia do NapoleĂŁo (NapolĂŠon Beach), where we took some time to enjoy the sun and the view. Dan went to see the exact point where river Rhone meets the Mediterranean Sea. After that, we headed to the nearby Ăle du Salin â but to get there, we had to take a short boat ride. It was a nice change from cycling and gave us a new experience on the water.
Once on the island, we explored a bit and even collected some salt â a fun and symbolic moment, considering the name of the place. The landscape there was different from anything weâd seen so far: quiet, open, and with a certain raw beauty.
Later in the day, we stopped at a local restaurant for dinner, and we ended up eating one of the best meals of the trip so far. Everyone ate really well, and it gave us a chance to recharge after a day in the sun.
As for tonightâs camping spot â itâs not the most comfortable, definitely one of the more basic setups weâve had. But itâs the best we could find nearby, and itâll do the job. After so many days on the road, weâve learned to appreciate even the simple shelter.
All in all, today was a lighter, slower-paced day, but full of small adventures, great food, and new experiences.
